NBBJ Design provided retail design and rollout services for Eddie Bauer Stores throughout the US and Canada, including design for the flagship downtown Seattle store. Craig Hardman was the Project Manager and led the design team for the project being responsible for 150 stores over a 3 year period.
The flagship Seattle store pictured here occupied the first level of an historic downtown building. The design reflects Eddie Bauer’s Northwest heritage, creating a lodge like feel through the use of natural stone, wood, a large central fire place, and water features. High end fly fishing equipment and accessories were displayed in the centerpiece shop-in-shop.
The rollout process of stores was a constant evolution of a prototype design, adapted to spaces of all different sizes and circumstances. The challenge was to accomplish construction plans for up to three stores per week to comply with all sorts of municipal permit jurisdictions. Bidding and construction for stores was ongoing. Craig Hardman led the team of up to 15 people throughout this process.
